Jim is “eating” while sleeping

Day 2:  For sleeping so much, Jim hit some pretty good milestones today.  All of his dressings were changed, Helen and I helped clean him up a bit and he looks much better now.  The nurse today had him sit in a chair.  He was ok for a while, then he started to not feel so good, so we quickly got him back in bed.  A little later, he started to get that headache that has been a problem.

The nurses say he’s draining as much as any patient having had this kind of surgery, so I don’t know if we’ll see the effects of the “oozing” problem immediately or not.

After I left, they started feeding him through his newly installed j-tube.  They use a pump that automatically “feeds” him small amounts of nutrients into his small intestine through this tiny tube.  Apparently, Jim is sleeping through most of it.

Glad to hear the surgery went mostly according to plan. We are thinking of you guys and will continue to do so in our thoughts and prayers. Ryan & Diane Fuller

    Dearest All,
My vigilant prayers continue for Jim and each of his family.
I am so very appreciative of your comprehensive updates from surgery to the progress each day. As a caring friend, this has been an anxiety releasing “in touch” tool during this very critical time.
I rejoice in the success of the surgery, for Jim’s ability to tolerate all his body has been put thru. I give thanks for Dr. Johnson and his team, their skill, commitment, wisdom. I pray for the continuing healing process and Jim’s will of steel to endure what he must. I pray for Jim’s beloved family to work thru this process with him, moment by moment.
    Love to all,
