The first two days of radiation

Well, to be blunt, the first day really sucked.  I think everyone was just super anxious about it all starting again and not knowing what to expect from radiation.  Jim’s tummy hurt all day, and he slept most of the day.  Which made me anxious about him loosing weight.  (He didn’t, but he didn’t gain any either.)  He weighs 20 lbs. less than he did at the original diagnosis.  He had it to lose then, but not now.

However, today was much better.  His tummy didn’t hurt, and his mind was in the right place.  So, that made the rest of us ok, too.  He said he could actually feel the radiation this time.  It felt like a ” warmth going through you.”  After Jim’s treatment, they (Jim, Justin and Helen) found an italian restaurant that has good food and overlooks the Guadalupe River in Kerrville.

On Sunday, we all went to church.  Our good friends, Kris and Paul Axtell and their boys, always sit in front of us.  Thank goodness too because the boys entertain Sarah.  She happened to have wandered to the edge of the aisle when they called for Children’s Time.  Pop’s encouraged her to go, and the boys had gone up there, so she slowly wandered up to the front.  When she got close enough Nathan, the eldest Axtell, picked her up and put her in his lap.  He must do this a bit when the Axtell’s have had to babysit for me recently because she looked quite comfortable.  I dove into my purse so I could get a picture of Sarah’s very first Children’s Time.

Thank you for the update on Jim’s radiation. As i have said and thought so, so many times thru this journey..Jim Morris has a will of steel and a loving family to surround and support him. Am so hoping the radiation helps Jim’s pain.
Am thinking of you and holding each of you close.
And what a precious site to get to share in Sarah’s first Chidlren’s Time.
    Thank you and love, Jayne
